Why doesn’t a modern flat’s window “breathe”?
A modern window does not “breathe” not because something is wrong with it — on the contrary, because it is too airtight.
Before — in old wooden windows:
- ✓ There were gaps and micro-cracks
- ✓ Air came in naturally
- ✓ Spontaneous ventilation occurred
In modern PVC, wooden and aluminium windows:
- ✗ Complete airtightness
- ✗ Multi-chamber glass units
- ✗ Seals block the air intake
👉 As a result:
- • No natural air exchange
- • Humidity rises
- • Condensation appears on the glass
- • Mould can form
- • The air becomes “stuffy”
It’s important to understand: the window shouldn’t “breathe” — the ventilation system should.
The solution:
- → Regular airing
- → Micro-ventilation (if the function exists)
- → Installing air supply valves
- → Setting up proper ventilation in the flat
In short: the more modern the window, the more carefully planned ventilation it needs.
An air supply valve — simple and effective
An air supply valve is fitted in the upper window frame and provides a controlled intake of fresh air without opening the windows. It is almost invisible on the window and does not reduce insulation.
