Frequently asked questions

What are the signs that hardware needs replacing?+
The handle turns with no resistance or won’t lock into position, the window closes with effort, there are knocking or scraping sounds, the hinges are visibly worn, or there are gaps in the windows — all these symptoms indicate worn hardware that needs replacing.
Can just one part be replaced, for example the handle?+
Yes, it is often enough to replace only the damaged part. However, if the hardware is old and several parts are worn, it is more economical to replace the whole set at once — this saves the cost of repeat visits.
How often does window hardware need replacing?+
Quality hardware lasts 15–25 years with regular lubrication. In practice most replacements happen at 10–15 years or after mechanical damage. Annual lubrication with special window oil can significantly extend its life.
What hardware do you use for replacement?+
We work with leading European manufacturers — MACO, Roto, Siegenia, Winkhaus, GU, Dr. Hahn, G-U BKS, Schüco, Reynaers, Fapim, Sobinco, Fab & Fix, Vorne. This hardware meets European standards and has a 2-year warranty. By arrangement, hardware of the customer’s choice can be fitted.
Does regular lubrication really help?+
Absolutely. Lubrication once a year (autumn is recommended) reduces friction in the hinges and locking points, prevents rust and extends the hardware’s life. Use special window oil or light machine oil — do not use WD-40, it dries out the rubber parts.

A simple way to extend hardware life

Lubricate your window hardware once a year — it saves hundreds of euros

The simplest way to save on hardware replacement: once a year (the best time is autumn, before the heating season) apply a few drops of special window oil to all moving points — hinges, locking cams and the sliders of the multi-point mechanism. Then close and open the window several times so the oil reaches all the gaps. This takes 2–3 minutes per window but can extend the hardware’s life by 5–10 years.
